About Tibet

Tibet, known as the "Roof of the World," is a place of profound spiritual significance and breathtaking natural beauty. Situated on the highest plateau on Earth with an average elevation exceeding 4,000 meters (13,000 feet), Tibet offers visitors a unique experience combining magnificent mountain landscapes, sacred Buddhist sites, and a vibrant cultural heritage that has developed in relative isolation for centuries. From the majestic Potala Palace in Lhasa to the turquoise waters of holy lakes set against snow-capped Himalayan peaks, Tibet presents a journey that is both physically challenging and spiritually rewarding. This carefully crafted 5-day itinerary introduces you to the region's most significant religious monuments, cultural treasures, and natural wonders while allowing time for acclimatization to the high altitude.

5-Day Tibet Itinerary:

DAY 1:

Airport pickup and acclimatization in Lhasa.

  • Transfer to your hotel in Lhasa (approximately 1 hour drive).
  • Rest and acclimatization: Given Lhasa's elevation of 3,656 meters (12,000 feet), it's essential to take it easy on your first day to adjust to the high altitude. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and refrain from strenuous activity.
  • Optional light activities: If feeling well, take a leisurely stroll around your hotel area or enjoy a welcome dinner featuring traditional Tibetan cuisine.

DAY 2:

Lhasa cultural exploration.

  • Barkhor Street (Barkhor Circuit): Experience the heart of old Lhasa as you join pilgrims and locals circumambulating the Jokhang Temple. This ancient circular street also serves as a vibrant marketplace selling traditional Tibetan crafts, religious items, and souvenirs.
